That's an affirmative captain! I was with a bunch of guys that rode their bikes and a COP got his bike stolen from the parking lot.........so in conclusion, I wouldn't take my bike, plus it's 4 hours away!

I just spoke to someone who is somewhat of an "expert" at these kinds of shows .... you do NOT want to bring your bike, it's the equivalent of sawgrass mills for motorcycle thiefs ...

I haven't decided if I want to cage it up there .. or not.

How risky is it to ride up there and leave the bike disc-locked in the parking lot. Word is that a lot of bikes disappear at these shows

I had a disclock on my last bike when it was stolen, so, NO I don't. I put an alarm and LoJack on this new one, but still don't feel safe. I probably wouldn't even trust "secured" parking, but I think it was the best option.

I e-mailed the promoters and asked if they would have secured parking and they said they were working on it

Remember that unless you lock your bike to something, it can be picked up and easily thrown into the back of a truck...not saying that it would happen without someone noticing...

10-12-2005, 03:31 PM
Even if someone noticed it, they would do nothing about it.

alecracing

Cables and chains only slow them down slightly, a small acetylene torch will go through anything very quickly

Somewhat true... One of the people in my complex got the tag number off of the van that they loaded my bike into and the cops traced it to guy in Miami, but there is an open investigation on this guy by miami-dade police so Ft Laud closed the investigation.

Princess
10-12-2005, 04:21 PM
Ride if you want but like I said I know someone that got their bike stolen and it was in the middle of a ton of bikes, not easy to get to. So if someone sees something they like or "need" they will one way or another, get it! My suggestion......don't ride!

If anyone wants to meet up or needs a ride and is close to Sunrise I'm sure I could hook you up. I dunno if Jared will be able to make it. A battery powered dremel tool fits in a pocket, and that cuts a chain.

All I am saying is the best way to avoid having your bike stolen is not take it to a place you know is a shopping center for thieves.

It's like parking in the back at Hooters ... not a great idea.
