   | Tire Size Question for the Mechanics and Car Sabby My uncle just bought a new truck and is handing down his 1998 Chevy S10 to me. I need to put new tires on it and I was wondering if any of you mechanically inclined or car sabby guys and gals could help me out with choosing the right size. 1998 Chevy S10 LS Extended Cab Short Bed 2WD Original Tire Size is 205/75/15 (too skinny and tall,looks ugly) Current Tire Size is 215/65/15 (not bad ) Im wondering how wide I could go like maybe 225-245/60/15? I've also seen where people have a larger tire in the back and smaller in front. Does anyone know or know where to find the limitations for this vehicle. Pros and Cons of sizes and different size front and back. Any info would help. Im really not leaning any which way but figured Id ask before i go and buy tires. thanks

 | Re: Tire Size Question for the Mechanics and Car Sabby Your wheels size will be the limitations there....remember, you want to keep the outside diameter of the tire as close to stock as possible otherwise you will throw off your speedometer. The wider you go, the lower profile you can use...or the larger wheel you can use. Current Tires are 215/60/15 Breakdown: 215 mm wide 60% of the 215 mm that is the height from the edge of the rim to the ground, also called Profile 15" Rim size If you are running an OEM rim, its probably a 5.5 inch wheel. If you want to run bigger, 225/60/15 might be the biggest (widest) for that wheel. 245/55/15 if that size is available.....chcek with your local tire shop for their opinion eBay has tons of deals on aftermarket wheels and tire combos. I went from a 185/70/14 on my Tacoma to a 245/40/18 and the size is exact for gearing purposes, so no speedo adjustments needed Good Luck
