Trackday ?????'s

Went out to check you guys out. I'm sooo want to do this!!! I saw the novice guys run first, pretty cool seeing streetbikes tear it up(well at least try to) The intermediate and advanced guys were waaay fast!!! Lotsa track time pays off!!! Saw two interm. guys run off into pebble beach, fortunately they made it back on no problem.

So I'm hoping to make the next one in Homestead. Please don't flame my noobie questions.

Leathers
1 piece or 2 piece?? Besides the obvious, does one piece offer more protection?? I'm about to buy a leather jacket for street riding, and can't really afford a 1 piece and a leather jacket.....

Boots
Can I use good old combat boots for now??

I bought my bike crashed, replaced almost all plastics with some oem I got off ebay. Can I run the old ones without lights/turn signals/tail light?? They still fit snug and aren't hanging by a thread. Wouild I still have to cover the headlights and stuff? (this not only gives me a weight advantage but also lets wind go thru me and not over me...)

Track fee/Track days
The website says there's a two day fee, how come you guys only go for one day?

That's enough for now....flame on.....

Yeah, it really was a great day. GREAT weather, great track conditions. Runoffs are common and are a BIG reason to go to the track. Run wide at the track and end up meeting Pebbles, run wide on the street and you get to meet Bam Bam.

Strictly speaking, I've seen people do it - I don't recommend it. Still, if it is a tossup between that and not going to the track, yeah, go for it.

I'd need more clarity here - are you talking about using plastics that have no headlight, tail light, signals? Are you saying they just have empty holes where the headlights would be? If so, yeah, not much to tape up there, but the aerodynamic drag will negate any weight reduction advantages. If the headlights are there, they have to be taped up, any and all glass needs to be taped and covered.

No flaming, if attendance is enough for two days then two days are hosted, otherwise it goes down to one.

Yes the old plastics with no headlights and stuff. I was kidding about the advantage..

I'd like to know difference between 1 and 2 piece leathers though...

Re: Trackday ?????'s

1 vs 2: 1 piece has to have the zipper all the way around. The advantage is that you can take the top off like a jacket, it's cooler, etc. The disadvantage? You know, I don't really know . . . I have a one piece.

I have both a one piece and a 2 piece. The one piece is way more comfortable.

Ok thanks..

When you put the glycol free coolant in for trackday, can you leave it in and run it for the streets?

Yes.......... I have been riding my bike with that on the street since the last track day with no over-temp issues.

I have had nothing but water wetter in my bike since 2001. Not a lot of freezing weather down here to worry about :)

Re: Trackday ?????'s

I think the 1 pieces tend to fit a little better than the 2 piece suits. Besides that, I think it's just a matter of finding a suit (1 or 2 piece) that fits comfortably on you.

Re: Trackday ?????'s

I'm no expert but my 2 cents anyway. The one piece is also safer. The two piece is ok for the street and for begining your trackdays but after you come up to speed the one piece is better.

More comfort for sure and if you have a getoff you don't have zipper to worry about. I have seen it happen that the seem of the zipper explodes and now it's your bare ass sliding down the pavement. Not pretty.

I wouldn't race or even do trackdays without a decent one piece.

Have fun.
