A Ninja 250 Track day?

Is there a CC limit on getting on the track (pbir for example)? Also, if there is not, is it not advisable (sp) to convert my ninja 250 to a track bike? I bought a zx7r and that's my new daily driver but until I get REALLY confortable with it, I don't want to take it to the track. My 250 is just sitting idle and I thought it might be a good idea to get some track time on it... any advice is greatly appreciated

Re: A Ninja 250 Track day?

good thread, always thought about buying a 250 for the track, just cause it would be cheaper and easier to master... plus i dont want to think of getting confident and pushing it too hard on my baby...

Re: A Ninja 250 Track day?

when i was at PBIR for a car import event they where running the road course at the same time. i saw plenty of 250cc's out there. seemed they had their own class. i think some where 2stroke. so i dont beleive theres a CC limit on what you can bring.

what year is your 250? Now that it makes a difference, but there was an awesome article in Sport Rider a few months back about racing the newer 250's and how cost effective it was. The bike is great on tire wear, a ton of fun to ride and race, and the simple upgrades needed to make the bike preform better doesnt cost that much.

You can easily ride a 250 on the track, the only problem would be top speed, and that is a maybe anyway. If you are on a track with some longer straights you'll be out motored, and the bigger bikes will have faster closing speeds.
But once you get used to it, you shoud have no problem, and have a blast riding on the track...

...
This was my concern... I didn't want to be that dude that may ruin someone's day because Im on a 250 on the track with the bigger bikes... Reading the replies, I feel pretty eager to go ahead and give it shot though.

Re: A Ninja 250 Track day?

Not that you can do anything about it now, since you already own your 250... But you would probabaly be a little more confortable out there if your 250 was a 2-stroke versus a 4 stroke.....

But again, either one should be fine...

Before I ran into financail problems, I was planning on keeping my 250VTR, and turning it into a track bike... But sh!t happens, and we move on....

At least I got my R6....

Anyways... GOOD LUCK!!!
