Re: Afirst bike to try trackdays with?

My streetbike is lowered and 7 inches longer and that wont change. Also putting the time to put stuff back and forth is not fun for me as I am a diesel tech for the last 14 years and I like working on them but we all know racer have scratches from husling in the pits or rushing the night before. With the bike lowered it doesnt turn as well as it did. I cant afford to just hunt certain roads for leaning plus traffic huge ticket which may cost me my cdl than I will have to look for a new job. Not to mention cost of lawyers to get my cdl back and increase in insurance rates. As far as a 1000 for a weekend the last clutch i bought for the my since sold camaro was over a grand with flywheel and I was happy to get seven months out of it due to a 3800 pound car cutting 1.5 60' on bfg drag radials that lasted 3500 miles with a 6 speed. I have done oval track alot of bracket drag racing and few track days in my super mini cup at sebring and homestead even with it be primarily a oval track car. So racing isnt a stranger.

When I say if like it I should be more clear as the way it is ran .As I learned to hate the mini cups for the way they were run and happy to get out of my car before the series went away since it wasnt fun anymore. The cost Of keeping a heavy quick street car together to pulled double duty is as expensive as having one all stock and 1 all strip. I allready have a elcamino as a second car so towing a bike isnt a issue. So losing 2 or 3 grand isnt that bad when comparing the damage i could due to mine and lose that brand new smoothness it has.

Re: Afirst bike to try trackdays with?

Well now, that info changes things a bit...LOL

You should be able to get a well sorted SV for about $2300. Look on the WERA board. I think someone here had a one for sale not too long ago, don't know if that is still available. Come down to the CCS races in Homestead next month and there should be a lot of stuff to look at.

Re: Afirst bike to try trackdays with?

Your last post sheds some light on the subject.

Since your street bike isn't an option you can rent a bike for the day from German: http://www.soflasportbikes.com/forum...e-rentals.html

If you want to get your own dedicated bike, keep an eye on boards like this one, WERA, Jennings, etc.

You should be able to pick up a decent, well sorted SV for about $2500, maybe less.

A track prepped 600 or 750 can be had for $3k - $4k easily.

Streetbike explanation is covered in above post. I havn't owed on credit cards in 6 years and no plan to do again. I live on a budget and if my my hobby is will go 1 dollar over it will spend time parked to not break my bank because i understand luxuary after bills and saving for hard times. If I wad up the track bike I have the street to still enjoy.

By the way i drove to road atlanta and my mini cup never made if off the trailer due to a bad fuel pump and wouldn't you know it no one wanted to loan or sell me one even at triple the retail price. been there done that.

I am 32 single have work 2 jobs at time and didnt need 2 and dont club big or try to run with the jones family.

I just saw the above and completely understand the need for a track only bike! on Jennings or WERA for a track bike.
I would consider an SV...very inexpensive.

I call BS, I've seen the time tickets where you cut a 1.41" 60', quit holding back.

Re: Afirst bike to try trackdays with?

Rent a bike for the next trackday. BikePass has good deals, and I think he rents them with new (or almost new) BT003 DOT race tires.
