GSXR1000 Service manual, and lowering question.

I just bought an 04 gixxer 1000. It is pretty sweet, very fast and fun. However, my center of gravity is a little to high for my street riding tast. My center of gravity is more at the shoulders than at the torso, a little uncomfortable for riding the streets. I hopped on my friends CBR and felt a huge difference in posture. Much more comfortable on the CBR 929. He had a corbin seat but I also noticed the handlebars were a little closer and a little higher than the position of the seat, it was much more comfortable especially around the corners. My task now is to buy a better seat and hopefully find a way to adjust my posture. Adjustable handlebars cost way to much for what it is worth, but it just might be my last resort. I thought about buying a lowering link but some say that it wont change the posture. This is why I am posting this thread. If anyone has a service or shop manual they could post it would be greatly appreciated. I want to find out if the back of the frame drops if I install a lowering link. If that is the case and the front of the frame stays at the same hieght as before the installation, then it seems the posture would improve.

what are ways on bettering posture? (lowering link?, adjustable handlebars?, new seat?, something I havent thought of?)

Would anyone mind posting a service manual?

Re: GSXR1000 Service manual, and lowering question.

lowering links will just drop the bike, has nothing to do with lowering the subframe like your'e asking. If you wanted a relaxed riding position you bought the wrong bike man. You should have looked at the Katana. That's the only suzuki with a more upright riding position. Maybe an SV.

How long have you had the bike? I'm thinking a few hundred miles and you might just get used to it

honestly if you were worried about riding position the minute you got on that bike you should have smiled handed the keys back to the original owner and said thank you but i am really looking for a cruiser..

have a nice day...

Re: GSXR1000 Service manual, and lowering question.

I actually own a Cruiser already a VTX 1800, it is awsome. And no I didn't buy that pretty gixxer I was dogging with poor accelerating abilities. I bought another gixxer1000 same year 04 for alot less, it has alot less miles too like 5k and also has a custom paint job. I got on the bike and fell in love with the speed and torque, and being used to a cruiser handing back the keys was the last thing on my mind, with the kind of torque and horse power this bike pushes and for the money I bought it for, handing back the keys would have been stupid. I have drove it for 500 miles already this week since monday and that is with a full time schedule. It looks like I am going to sell the bike, which is cool cause at the price I bought it for I will definately be getting paid for riding it. I have been wanting a sport bike since I moved from ATL six months ago, this bike filled the long arduous void in my life enough for me to hold off on getting another bike with a better street riding posture. I am leaning toward an SV, a CBR or Kawasaki. If anyone knows anyone who wants a gixxer in good condition with a custom paint job for $6,350 let me know. Has new battery and just put new full synthetic in it. Runs clean and cool.
