You may have missed the very first post, here it is again for your reading pleasure;
"Ran across this litle jewel and decided to share. I have been using Purolator car filters on the Scud and no related problems so far. If your bike is under waranty do not use car filters".
BTW I seriously doubt that the car oil filter damaged the engine but then again Suzuki has denied claims when their frames broke in half due to insufficient weld penetration and when the pistons contacted the head on the first SRADs'. Nothing new about bike manufacturers trying to dodge a legitamate claim.

Re: Car to motorcycle oil filters conversion

I read most of this thread and I dont understand how people are trying to skimp out on a 12 dollar oil filter.

I hate when I see cheap asses try to jerry rig their sportbikes, its like ricing out your moms civic.... fail...

You obviously did not read/comprehend the post. The car filters (Pue One) are better quality than the OEM at 1/2 the price. Try reading slower next time. If you still want to buy the OEM filter go right ahead and spend the money. The fail here is you

Re: Car to motorcycle oil filters conversion

still being cheap and not what the factory wants on it.... that's ok if you ever have engine problems you can write to fram how its their fault YOU put their filter on your quierzuki and the dealer wont warranty it.

Have fun.

Fram filters were rated the worst. This only confirms that you do not know how to read and understand simple technical articles..

Re: Car to motorcycle oil filters conversion

I've heard too many fram horror stories.

Personally I think the filter upgrade idea is especially sane considering the cheapass filters available for some makes and models. I run the 3.25" Purolator w/ Rotella syn (which is JASO-MA certified, by the way).

Re: Car to motorcycle oil filters conversion

Wtf is the difference between the filters? They're both made the same exact way except one says mc and one says auto. And they deny claims as soon as you start putting mods on your bike .(pc,slipons,etc) so a dealer denying a claim is how they.keep money in their pockets and get more out of yours. I know someone that have had to hire lawyers to get an engine under warranty cause he was denied and won,and the lawyer cost a lot less than a new engine from the dealer and put them in their place to boot.
