Re: What happened to Sportbiking in So Florida?

The way I recall it, at their best, everyone knew each other, it was done in a more organized way, and it wasn't done as insanely as what it evolved into, towards the "end". We used to be able to get 20-20 riders, and go places without getting the attention of the police (except for some who we knew, and were members here - and even arranged "escorts" through Key Largo). No one routinely took stupid chances, and it seemed safer than the later rides. A lot more newer riders, too. That's when I stopped - when the safety factor dropped.

Re: What happened to Sportbiking in So Florida?

I have not been on here in a long time too. I think a lot of the answers are correct on why there are less sport bikes on the road. Traffic is a big one, price of new sport bikes is getting expensive, insurance, and to some extent the culture of the young kids. Hell the other day we had a 19 year old intern in who could not tell the time off an analogue clock!!

I'm down to 3 bikes, 06 Honda CBR track bike that is well sorted, full Ohlins suspension, full ti Akra system, Brembo brakes and clutch ect, a 09 Honda VFR for all around riding and a Suzuki DR 650. I ride dual sport on the DR more than anything, hard to get a cager hit me in the woods. I need to call Gary, is he still the chief around here?
