New motorcycle laws

Im sure most people know about the new laws going into effect monday 2007. I had totally forgot until i read a newspaper article today.

"motorcycle riders under age 21 will have to haev a different license plate from that of older riders. thats because a new law requires riders under 21 to wear a helmet, and with a different license plate police can tell who should be wearing one."

Now I always wear a helmet reguardless, but i think the new license plate thing is retarded. Mainly because im going to have to go to the tax collection place or whatever. and that place is always fucking crowded.

Shit, if they're doing that, you might as well paint for bike florescent yellow with big black letters that say N00B... *shakes his head in disbelief*

Just another way to profile bikes..

How is that a different way to profile a bike? Its already on two wheels. this is going to force younger, more inexperienced riders who tend to take more risks to wear a helmet. Awesome idea. They should make the whole state a mandatory helmet state, it would help our insurance rates as well as save a few lives.

the better thing they could do is require a motorcycle license to tag a motorcycle.... just like cars, no license no ride.

Actually, now I think about it.. n00bs already have different tags.. "PAPER TAGS" :-D

I wear my helmet because I know I do stupid shit. I also know that people don't see you when you're on a motorcycle. But when I'm crusing the beach, I some times sit my helmet on my gas tank or I'll strap it to the passenger seat grab strap.

Mandatory helmet laws are just as retarded as seat-belt laws. If you need some one to force you to be safe, then you're only preventing darwin from doing his job. Common sense laws are just stupid. Wear your gear, wear your seat belt--- Next, there will be some law forcing us to wear condoms to practice SAFE sex. Get me of this planet.. Please..

The point is, insurance rates in the state are up to cover the medical expenditures they incur from unprotected riders. Making a helmet law would actually cause the rates to go down for two reasons: 1) There are less severe injuries taht have to be covered and 2) they dont have the need to create a "buffer" in the insurance rate for "future" injures, i.e. they dont expect more so they dont charge more.

I ride with the helmet off by the beach while travelling 15 to 20 mph, but thats it.
