that's why Scudman mentioned earlier in the thread that you have to use an oil that DOES NOT have "ENERGY CONSERVING" in the donut

all your moving parts need lubrication some more than others but who cares if your oil is to thin, to thick or is if design for a F16 fighter plain or for a scotter oil is oil, lets all put car oil is better. thats the best concept ever.

2. so the same oil you use on the motor of your diessel is the same one you put on your car transmission???

maybe on a ducati being dry you could get away but not on a system that your transmission, clutch and motor use the same clutch.

Not bashing the rotella. Promoting Motul for sure. Yes we sell, but we use it in our race bikes which is currently leading ccs. We have no engine problems or oil related problems. I wouldn't make specific comments on an auto product as I don't really address it. Their engineers aren't looking for bike products.

I also prefer looking for the JASO over the API, but regardless, Motul Factory Line can have running oil temp of 365 deg when valve guides and sleeves removed. ...over 500 deg before it vaporizes! That's pretty awesome. Like I said, it's your money. If it is working, use it. As far as I know, there's no MOTORCYCLE research from Shell. Could be wrong, but the motul as well as others is bike specific.

Good motorcycle oil will leave virtually no burnt deposits on valves or pistons. Especially ones designed for bikes with integrated gear box, wet clutch etc. As far as motul, they've been making bike specific oils much long time! Good luck.

No question that The Motul is a great oil and it is motorcycle specific. It is expensive for sure. If I would be a good enough rider in a racing series where that extra 5% is needed and maybe makes a difference then I would consider using it. For my type of riding (street /track)the cost of expensive motorcycle oil is not justified. I only have 30K on my 900RR and no sludge deposits in the engine head. My diesel with 100K had no sludge deposits either. Jared with over 160K miles on his F4I uses only Mobil1. Yes, his 2nd gear blew at around 140K miles. No sludge reported durring the engine teardown. This is a car specific oil (a good one at that) but not to be used in a VW diesel because it is not rated for the heavy duty of a TDI. Rotella is rated for the TDI.

Re: Car to motorcycle oil filters conversion

I hear you. I tell my guys to look at it like this...How many oil changes are you doing a year? On MY personal bikes, about 5. Then about another 5 for race bikes. But my average guy is doing about 3 to 4 a year. Saving $20-$40 a year, I recommend the better oils...that Rotella may be, but again, max confidence for me is Motul. They have tremendous RnD for their products including WSBK and moto GP running EXACTLY same oil as you can purchase.

My cruiser (roadstar) runs Castrol Act Evo, runs like a champ and retail is only $25 in oil!
