Stolen 2015 Black ZX10 and Blue & White BMW S1000RR

Hi guys,

Sadly enough, two of my good friends had their bikes stolen last night (11/22/2015) from their apartment parking lot in Stuart. The two bikes that were stolen were a 2015 flat black ZX10 with woodcraft rearsets and a LeoVince slip on. The exhaust and right side fairing had slight road rash from a low side at a recent PBIR track day. The other bike is a 2014 Blue a white (race colors) BMW S1000RR. The ZX10 had a GPS tracker but the thieves disabled it. Neither of the bikes were insured so both of these guys are out two very nice bikes and a lot of money. These are two good guys who made the classic mistake of not insuring their bikes ( which many of us have done and gotten away with it ). I will be starting a collection to try and raise something for these guys to help them get back on two wheels. If anyone has any info or is willing to chip in a couple dollars, feel free to contact me. Thank You!

Wow. Two bikes at the same time? Bad night for your friends. This is why bike thieves should be chained to a truck and dragged until there's nothing left but chain, sparking on the asphalt.

First of: the mistake is not to have no insurance but to park bikes outside and leave them unattended. If they would have gotten insurance guess who would have to foot the bill through rising insurance premiums. All of us. In this instance insurance is just another way to make others pay for your own idiocy or laziness.

Secondly, most biker I know have their bikes insured, especially when they are new or on the expensive side of the spectrum. I doubt your claim accounts for "most of us".

Lastly: trying to collect money for them is just another form of making others pay for their mistake.

Your friends should check for surveillance cameras in the entire area and if they find any ask a detective to come out in order to get the recordings. Your friends can also check eBay and Craigslist for the parts the next 12 month but I doubt they will be able to make them out.

High end sport bikes
Parked outside
Apartment complex
No insurance
= Bad combination

Re: Stolen 2015 Black ZX10 and Blue & White BMW S1000RR

Comprehensive insurance is not very expensive. I always carry liability and comprehensive on my bike without collision which is under $200 yr. When I ride I call up and add collision & uninsured motorist which are much more expensive, over $400 yr for those features. But since I don;t ride every day, or even every week I'll call up and cancel the collision while my bike is parked in my garage.

oh well, I just checked out Direct General and they cannot insure my GSXR because my spouse is not licensed to drive a motorcycle.

Does your spouse actually "DRIVE" your bike?

Re: Stolen 2015 Black ZX10 and Blue & White BMW S1000RR

Man that sucks, and in my general area too. What apartments was it? I rarely see new $12-17k sportbikes without insurance because the financiers usually require it, and few people pay cash for their new bikes.
